We're doing a series on the top fifty movies of each decade.   We're beginning with the seventies because, for the most part, movies before 1972 are either too dated or too slow.  There are of course notable exceptions to this rule.  Casablanca is a must see, as are Gone With The Wind, On The WaterfontTo Kill A Mockingbird.  But often the effects are terrible, and the story takes far too long to unfold.  We've found that after 1972 we enjoy the pace a lot more.  So without further ado...

Welcome to the 1970s.  It is a time of civil unrest, hippies, war, high unemployment, high inflation, bell-bottoms, and great cinema.  Below are the movies we ranked 41 - 50.

41  -  The Sting - (1973, George Roy Hill) starring Robert Redford, Paul Newman
42  -  Coming Home - (1978, Hal Ashby) starring Jon Voight, Jane Fonda
